Both opponents are armed and ready to fight. Tori is armed with a – Jo and the uke – sword. Opponents stand opposite each other and wait for the moment to attack. Tori holds the stick to his left, covering the front end of the hand, the uke clearly guides the sword to the throat of the tories.
-
The first active steps begins the uke. He pulls together and raises his sword above his head to perform a chopping blow from above. Tori puts down the left leg to the side and it kicks the rear end of the Jo to the uke's jaw. Due to the circular motion, tories do not need additional swing. It is very important to work consistently with both hands, otherwise the impact will not be strong.
-
Tory faked that punch. At the last moment, he stops Jie and pulls his right hand back. The left glides to the front edge of the stick and directs Jie precisely into the throat of the uke. From this position, tori can perform several different attacks. It can be a zuki in the throat, chopping a blow to the hands or knee. While tori moves freely, choosing the most convenient angle of attack.
-
Without losing initiatives tori ends up offset to the left and pulls the right leg to the left and then stabs Jo in the head of uke. This blow is performed by twisting the whole body and crossing hands. Jie slides freely in his hands, gaining enough inertia for a strong blow. The uke also performs a hit, but Tory has already left the line of attack. Besides, the shot looks slightly blurred, because the uke peripheral vision sees that he misses a heavy blow to the head. Even if he tries to close, the blow will be on his hands.
-
After such a blow, uke is forced to surrender.
At the heart of each technique is a set of elements. And replacing all one element, you can get a completely different reception. That is why students should be relaxed and work out techniques freely, creatively approaching the situation. Only in this way can students develop a habit to respond adequately to any action of the opponent. Plus the habit of the active counter-action, which contributes to seize the initiative from the attacker.
